Kim Kibum!

So let me take a sec to tell you a little bit about an amazing dude.

Yeah, that one. Shocker right?

The quick way to do this would just to tell you he’s perfect (it’s true) and call it a day. But that’s less than helpful and I want to inform. So okay, I guess we’ll just start with the basics.

His name in Hangul: 김기범.

Birthday: August 21, 1987

Blood type: A

Height: 179cm

Weight: 58kg

Siblings: Kim Saehee, his younger sister

So okay, when Kibum was 10 he moved to California where he attended Santa Monica High School. While walking on the street and listening to music one day, a sment scout spotted him and encouraged him to try out for the company. So he did and what do you know, they realized he was awesome.

He flew between LA and Seoul a lot during training, both to see his family and go to school. He studied not only singing and dancing (which most people know him for), but also in acting, his true passion (which SJ fans kinda found out the hard way). He actually debuted originally as an actor in 2004 on a show called April Kiss and has been in several shows since, even after he debuted again as a member of Super Junior. He also did some modeling and commercial work (here is a commercial he did with Heechul before they were SJ members^^) because really, who doesn’t want that face associated with their product.

Anyway. In 2005 he debuted again, as a singer and member of Super Junior. But I think we all know that. For obvious reasons, Super Junior promotions took up p. much all of his time, so his acting activities kinda got halted. He did act in a few shows during his SJ time but I’ll go into details about those later.

Now in 2007 he actually got to merge both of his careers into one when Attack On The Pinup Boys was filmed. And for the love of god if you haven’t seen this movie, go watch it rn. It makes my heart just swell when I think of how happy he must have been.

But then came 2009. Sorry Sorry was released and.. there wasn’t a whole lot of Kibum to be found. Anywhere. Everybody thought he left SJ so sment finally fessed up that he was focusing on solo work but that he definitely didn’t leave Super Junior. And no matter how many people doubt that, Kibum has said time and time again that he is in Super Junior forever, no matter what, even if he’s away. And do not doubt Kibum I will come after you.

Kibum fans got a little present in early 2010 when Jumunjin was released, a movie he had spent 2009 filming. (If you’re curious, he plays a man who has shut himself off from the world and scares the bejesus out of anybody who tries to stay in his cabin, so he is believed to be a ghost. Then Bora the brave comes along and wants to fix him. Stuffs happen, I dig it, you can watch it here if you’d like.)

Okay so I guess that p. much brings us to the present. Thank god he made a twitter that he semi-frequently uses so I can keep tabs on him a little bit. In an ‘at least now I know he’s still alive’ way, not an ‘I’m going to track his every move’ way. I’m not that kind of fan. 2010 was rough okay I got like one picture every few months. Now I get actual information directly from him on occasion and it is comforting.

But anyway. I guess I’ll just rattle off some random facts about him now. Or at least.. things that are believed to be true, hahahah.

→ His favorite color is sky blue.

→ He wanted to be a doctor when he was younger. (homg)

→ He is a p. private person so coming across info about him can be hard. This also ties in to his personality. He’s kind of slow to open up to people which makes him come off as cold. But once you get to know him.. <3333

→ He really values trust.

→ He likes cats and rabbits, but doesn’t like mice.

→ Likes the number 1, does not care for 9.

→ Enjoys oranges, does not like apples. (Guys I love oranges and hate apples just saying.)

→ Last I heard he wanted to marry at 29 and didn’t want kids (BLAM). He recently tweeted, though, and questioned why people got married just to get married, instead of marrying for love. So 29 isn’t exactly a rigid plan, he’s willing to wait until he knows it’s legit. And on Super Summer he said he didn’t want to commit to a relationship while he was still pursuing a successful acting career because he wouldn’t be able to dedicate all of his time to his career or the relationship and it wouldn’t be fair for anybody.

→ Favorite English word is ‘love’, favorite Korean word is ‘sarang’. Go figure.

→ He loves the beach.

→ Can speak English like it’s his job and has a hot as hell accent.

→ I cannot believe I haven’t mentioned this until now, dude he is a genius. He’s the smartest in SJ with an IQ of 138 and I da naa if you observe him on shows he’s always just hanging back taking things in while SJ is running around. They may get most of the attention but he always has mine. <3
